Linda Christianson

Hello Cohorts!

It is my great privilege to be asked to be a teacher in the Cohorts program.

As artists we have 3 things we need, no matter where we are on our path. We need:

  • To be left alone to work

  • Get critical feedback from those who have our best interests at heart

  • Know how to get help

As a teacher, it is my opportunity and challenge to help you with the last 2 parts of the equation. My job is to help you see what you are making, ask you what you want to make, and help you find the ability to do that. It is my duty to dismiss my own likes and dislikes, and help you grow in your own work.

It has been my great privilege to work as a potter and itinerate educator for four and a half decades. While my studio practice is mainly making pots, I also work with other ideas and materials that seemingly have nothing to do with clay. The question “What if?” is central to my own making. As an educator I have worked with children and adults, from community education, university, jr. college, art school, to craft schools. I find great meaning in helping people identify their own curiosities and discover who they are with the material. I want to know what matters to you, and how it translates into your work. While focusing on content, form, and surface, the goal is for you to grow in your work.

I am a Pollyanna type person, and we can figure out anything together.

I look forward to working with you!
