Cohorts.Art Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 15, 2026Cohorts.Art ("we," "us," "our") operates the Cohorts.Art mobile app, a companion to our mentorship program that helps students, mentors, and alumni stay informed about announcements, events, and program resources. This policy explains what information the app collects, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
Account information: your email address, and if you sign in with Google, the name and profile photo associated with your Google account.
Program membership: your role in the program (for example, current cohort member, mentor, alumni, or continuum participant) and which cohort you belong to, maintained by program administrators.
Device information for notifications: a device push-notification token and your device platform (iOS or Android), so we can deliver announcements to your device.
Notification activity: which announcements you've read, so the app can show you what's new.
Anonymous usage statistics: each time the app is opened, we log the event along with your device's platform (iOS, Android, or web) and general device type (phone, tablet, or desktop) — not who opened it. These records aren't linked to your account or any other personal information, and program administrators can only see aggregate totals (for example, "140 views this week, 60% iOS"), never an individual member's activity.
We do not collect payment information through the app — tuition and program payments are handled separately through our website. We do not collect precise location, contacts, or health data, and the app contains no third-party advertising or ad-tracking.
How we use your information
- To sign you in and keep you signed in - To determine your program role so the app shows you the right resources and sends you relevant announcements - To deliver push notifications and maintain your notification history - To understand overall app usage (for example, which platforms members use) so we can improve it - To operate, maintain, and improve the app
How information is shared
We use Google Firebase and Google Cloud to host the app's backend, store data, authenticate sign-in, and deliver push notifications. These providers process data on our behalf and do not use it for their own purposes.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
Data retention
We retain your account and membership information for as long as you're part of a Cohorts.Art program or maintain an account. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us (see below).
Your choices and rights
You can sign out of the app at any time from the Profile tab. You can disable push notifications through your device's system settings. You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by contacting us at the email below.
If you're located in the European Economic Area, the UK, or another jurisdiction with its own data protection law, you may have additional rights under that law, including the right to data portability and the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Children's privacy
Cohorts.Art is a mentorship program intended for adult, self-directed artists. The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
International users
Cohorts.Art serves students and mentors internationally. Information you provide is processed and stored in the United States through our service providers' infrastructure.
